Spree Of Vehicle Burglaries Is Continuing
Lawrenceburg Now
The Lawrenceburg Police Department is continuing to respond to numerous reports regarding the burglary of vehicles.
Officers responded to three similar calls Wednesday. A seventy-five year old resident of Fourth Street reported that he had exited his home around 9:20 a.m. to find that someone had made attempts to enter his 2006 GMC truck in his driveway. The driver side vent visor had been broken. He told officers that he believed someone had attempted to break into the truck because he had left a window partially open. Nothing appeared to be missing. The victim said that when he made the discovery his doors were still locked and the alarm set. The truck sustained around $60 worth of damage.
Officers took two separate reports from residents living on Daniel Drive. The first victim, age twenty-three, reported that she, too, had left her truck window partially open. She found that the vent visor on her 1997 Dodge Ram had been broken. She said it appeared that the culprit had reached through the opening to hit the unlock button. Although entry was made, she said that nothing appeared to be missing. She estimated her damages at $40.
A thirty-one year old resident of a neighboring Daniel Drive home stopped by the police department to report that someone had entered his GMC truck, which had been left unlocked in his driveway. Missing was a Smith & Wesson model 642, .38 special revolver valued at $500. He told officers that he had not arrived home until around 3:00 a.m. and that the crime had occurred afterwards.
Investigation into these and numerous similar crimes is currently on-going through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone having relevant information should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
