LFD Swift Water Rescue Team Deployed To Render Aid In South Carolina

Lawenceburg Now

Four members of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team have been deployed to South Carolina to assist with emergencies arising due to heavy flooding.

Lawrenceburg City Administrator Chris Shaffer explained to members of the Board of Mayor and Council Thursday morning, “The Tennessee Mutual Aid has requested our Swift Water Rescue Team for continued rescue operations in South Carolina…They should be there for approximately one week.”

Although Fire Chief Jay Moore was unable to attend the meeting, Shaffer told council members, “Chief Moore has stated that he will not leave the city in any type of bind for manpower. He’s got a full staff for next week.”

Shaffer referred to the collapse of a building on the city’s Public Square the previous week. A number of agencies responded to offer assistance. “I think we understand how important helping others is after dealing with what happened to us last week.”
