Man Apprehended In Middle Of Home Burglary
Lawrenceburg Now
A local man was apprehended by authorities last week while he was allegedly burglarizing a home on Carroll Street in Lawrenceburg.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched on a call of a burglary in progress. When they arrived they checked the exterior of the home, noting that it appeared that entry had been gained through a door on the north side of the residence. They found that a large piece of furniture had been dragged outside, broken, then thrown onto the ground.
Officers entered the home and found no one inside. They exited through a south side door and report finding a man carrying a box full of miscellaneous items. He told officers that he had gotten the items from the trunk of his car.
The man was identified as thirty-three year old Jacob Thomas Sandusky of 207 Carroll Avenue. A neighbor identified him as the man she had seen inside the home and removing items.
The property owner told officers that he was familiar with Sandusky, but had instructed him not to be on the property for any reason. When he arrived on the scene he identified numerous items that were missing.
A number of the stolen items were found inside Sandusky’s house. His girlfriend told officers that she had left their home around 10:30 that evening and returned around an hour later to find new furniture and an entertainment system. A number of the victim’s belongings were reportedly found inside Sandusky’s living room, dining room, and hallway. The items were subsequently returned to the owner.
Sandusky was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges of aggravated burglary, vandalism, and theft over $500. He was incarcerated under a $23,000 bond with an initial court appearance scheduled for November 6, 2015.
