Traffic stop for light violation leads to discovery of narcotics

Press release

On 9-23-2017, officers with the Saint Joseph Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Highway 43 for a light law violation.

During the traffic stop, officers found the driver, Dustin Randal Pettus (38) of Lexington, AL, to be in possession of a syringe to inject narcotics.

Upon further search of the vehicle, officers discovered approximately 17.5 grams of methamphetamine, baggies used for resale, and a set of digital scales used to weigh the methamphetamine.

Dustin Pettus was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance sch II for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pettus was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for processing.
