Marijuana plant seized during investigation into domestic altercation

Lawrenceburg Now

A deputy investigating a domestic altercation in Leoma Sunday seized a marijuana plant that was being grown by one of the individuals involved.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that a deputy was dispatched to investigate the verbal altercation on Springer Station Road at around 11:00 a.m. When he arrived, the man involved in the argument had already left.

While he was speaking with the female subject, reports show that she admitted that her boyfriend had been growing marijuana near the railroad tracks. The deputy sized a single plant that stood around four feet tall.

When the male subject, identified as thirty-eight year old Brandon Neil Russ, returned the deputy confronted him about the plant. He reports that Russ confessed that the plant belonged to him, saying that “he smoked marijuana to help him sleep.”

Russ was cited on a charge of possession of marijuana.
