Police department reports church burglar has been apprehended

Lawrenceburg Now

Shortly after requesting assistance from the public in identifying the person who burglarized a Lawrenceburg church Thursday, authorities reported that the suspect had been apprehended.

The burglary occurred at around 1:00 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Mahr Avenue. Officials with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were able to secure surveillance footage that captured a man prowling about inside the church. They later posted the video on the department's Facebook page, requesting information from anyone who recognized him.

On Friday, officials reported that the suspect had been identified as fifty year old Van Coy Moore, Jr., of Lawrenceburg. Moore was subsequently arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on burglary charges.
