More Vehicle Burglaries Reported
Lawrenceburg Now
Lawrenceburg residents have continued to report numerous instances of vehicle burglaries in past days.
On Tuesday, a resident of Johnson Street reported to Lawrenceburg Police officers that someone had burglarized both his 2005 Chevrolet Colorado truck and his 2004 Chevrolet SUV overnight while they were parked in the driveway outside his home. Items stolen included cigarettes, lighters, a bottle of pills, and around $50 in cash.
Tuesday afternoon officers responded to Simpson Street where the resident reported the burglary of her 2004 Nissan Quest. She told officers that her husband had parked the van in the driveway around midnight. She went out the next day to find that it had been ransacked. A Bluetooth speaker and a cell phone charger, valued at $25, were missing.
On Wednesday, officers responded to a West Taylor Street home shortly after midnight. The resident reported that she had heard the door on her 2001 Chevrolet Impala being opened and closed a few times. She went out to check and found that the paint had been damaged above the driver’s door. Officers noted that it appeared someone had attempted to gain illegal entry to the vehicle. Damages were assessed at $300.
Just before 3:00 p.m. Wednesday officers were called to a home on Fourth Street. The resident reported that she had left her 2004 Oldsmobile Alero, unlocked, in the driveway. When she returned, she discovered that her Garmin GPS system and AT&T cell phone charger had been stolen. The items had an estimated value of $120.
Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore continues to urge residents to lock all vehicles and refrain from leaving items lying in plain view inside, in the hopes of curtailing the break-ins.
