Motorist who side-swiped vehicle went into liquor store before fleeing the scene

Lawrenceburg Now

An investigation was initiated on Monday after a Lawrenceburg resident reported her vehicle had been side-swiped by a motorist who fled from the scene.

The twenty-one year old victim spoke with Lawrenceburg Police officers just before 1:00 p.m. at the crash site, in the 100 block of Weakley Creek Road. She reported that she had been driving when a male motorist side-swiped her 2015 Kia Optima.

She said that the man exited his vehicle and looked at her car. She said that he claimed that her vehicle had already been damaged prior to the crash, then went inside a nearby liquor store. She said when he exited he got back into his vehicle, possibly a white Toyota Tundra, and left the scene.

Damages to the victim’s vehicle were estimated at $500.

Reports show that officers were able to obtain a picture of the man from the liquor store’s security video. At the time reports were filed the case remained under investigation.
