Two attempts to pass counterfeit money made at local market
Lawrenceburg Now
A clerk at a Lawrenceburg market handed over counterfeit money to law enforcement officers Tuesday, reporting that a man had made two attempts to pass fake bills before leaving the premises.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report that they were dispatched to Fast Stop Market, at 1198 North Locust Avenue, just after 6:00 p.m. The clerk reported that a man had come through the drive-thru window and attempted to pay for cigarettes with a fake $20 bill.
The clerk said that she informed the man that the bill was counterfeit and that he then handed her a second bill. She quickly found that that bill was counterfeit, as well. She said when she informed him of this, he drove away.
The clerk said the man was driving a white Dodge four-door truck, but that she had been unable to obtain a license plate number. She told officers that the store’s video surveillance system would have captured “very good images” to aid them in their investigation.
