Vandalism
Police officers spoke with a Lexington, Alabama man Wednesday who reported an incident that occurred while he was installing gutters at a Pulaski Street location. He said that a woman pulled into the parking lot, striking a piece of guttering that was lying on the ground. He said the woman apologized, then drove away. Damages were estimated at $200.
Theft
On Wednesday, police officers spoke with a Lawrenceburg man regarding the theft of the hubcaps off of his car. He said that he had gone into a North Locust Avenue business. When he returned, all four hubcaps were missing off of his 2002 Chevrolet Prizm. Loss was approximately $40.
Vandalism
A Jackson Street resident reported a loss of more than $100 when a motorist ran over his mailbox Tuesday, completely destroying both the mailbox and the pole. He said he had heard a loud “pop” and looked out to see a tan SUV leaving the scene.
Theft
Police officers were summoned to Super Stop on North Locust Avenue Tuesday. The complainant told them that she had gone into the restroom and left and inadvertently left her cell phone lying on the sink. When she returned to retrieve it, it was missing. A review of security video showed that a woman had entered the bathroom and when she exited, she was holding the victim’s phone in her left hand. The phone had a value of $500.
Theft
Deputies spoke with a Glenn Springs Road resident last week who reported that someone had burglarized her home while she slept. She said that the intruder had stolen a fireproof safe in which she store all of her narcotic medications.
Forgery
A former inmate at the local jail stopped by the sheriff’s department Tuesday to report that, while she was incarcerated, a relative had forged her signature on her car title, gone to the county clerk’s office and had the car title transferred into her name. When confronted by deputies they note that, “She did not deny signing the title,” and “said she would come to the clerk’s office to sign the title back over” to the owner.
Theft
Deputies spoke with a Gimlet Road resident on Tuesday who reported someone had taken the wheels and tires off of a Ford Ranger parked in the yard. Also, he said the battery was missing. Altogether loss was said to be $430.
