Victim reports lug nuts were tampered with

Lawrenceburg Now

Authorities have launched an investigation after a young Lawrenceburg woman reported someone had tampered with the lug nuts on her car recently.

The victim, age 19, reported to Lawrenceburg Police officers that she had been driving along the highway when one of the wheels came off of her car. She did not sustain injuries, however she reported around $450 worth of damage to her vehicle. She said that she checked her other wheels and found that lug nuts had been loosened on them, as well.

The victim speculated that her car had been tampered with while she was at Columbia State Community College. She was able to provide officers with the name of a suspect.

The victim reported that the lug nuts had also been tampered with on a car belonging to one of her relatives. She told officers that he had a nearly-identical experience. One of his wheels had also come off while he was driving. He, too, discovered that lug nuts on his other wheels had been loosened.

Presently, the case remains under investigation.
