Teen sustains serious injuries in vehicular assault
Lawrenceburg Now
A local teenager sustained some serious injuries Wednesday night in a vehicular assault incident.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department spoke with the nineteen year old victim just before 10:30 p.m. The reporting officer notes that when he arrived, the teen “had injuries on his body” and “was bleeding in different places on his body.”
Reports indicate that he had sustained a serious injury to his right leg, which was very swollen. The officer reports that the teen could barely move the leg. He also noted that the teen had what appeared to be “road rash” spread across his body.
The victim reported that he had been drinking a soda at a market on Buffalo Road earlier when he saw his cousin. He said that she was with two other females and they agreed to give him a ride. He said that during the ride, he and his cousin began to argue about family matters, and that she began to yell and use profanity.
When they got to his truck on Crowson Road, the teen said he attempted to exit the vehicle. When he got one foot on the ground, he said his cousin “yelled out ‘drive!’ in an angry manner.” He said at that point the driver accelerated. He tried to hang onto the door, but eventually lost his grip and fell out of the car. He told officers that he “thinks the vehicle did not run him over.”
The teen was transported by ambulance to the hospital for medical care.
Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle in which the suspects were traveling. The victim was unable to provide his cousin’s address, however reports show that officers were able to find some information that would help them locate her.
At the time reports were filed investigation in the case was on-going.
