Authorities investigate burglary, vandalism of west Lawrence church
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officers were asked to investigate Wednesday when officials with a West Lawrence church discovered that the building had been broken into.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that a deputy responded to County Line Church of Christ at around 9:20 p.m. A church member reported he had arrived to open the building for Wednesday night Bible study and discovered that the rear door had been kicked in. Parts of the door were lying on the ground.
Once inside, the person responsible for the crime busted up the boxes on two new speakers. The smashed boxes were thrown into the baptismal, however the speakers themselves were undamaged.
The only thing that appeared to be missing was one HP laptop computer, taken from the podium. Books on a shelf had been rummaged through, however none appeared to be damaged or missing. Loss and damages resulting from the crime were estimated to total $740.
The matter currently remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information regarding the crime should contact the sheriff’s department at 931-762-3626.
