Tennessee Highway Safety Office Announces Winners of 2016 Lifesavers Director’s Awards
Ten Recipients Honored for Outstanding Achievements in Highway Safety
Press release
On Friday, September 9, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) announced the ten Director’s Awards recipients during the annual luncheon ceremony at the 2016 Lifesavers Conference.
The Director’s Awards ceremony was created to recognize outstanding efforts by partners of THSO in a wide variety of disciplines. Whether it is in the area of prosecution, law enforcement, education, or emergency response, these honorees exhibit exceptional service and dedication on a daily basis.
“All of our partners are tremendously important to us,” said THSO Interim Director Jason Ivey. “The ones we choose to recognize each year are those who go above and beyond the status quo in their commitment to saving lives. Their efforts become best practices in helping the State of Tennessee achieve continued success in highway safety.”
Special recognition was awarded to Joe Sutton, the longest-serving member of the Governor’s Highway Safety Office. The other nine honorees include Larissa Thompson of the Collegiate Life Investment Foundation, Lieutenant Marty Pollock of Tennessee Highway Patrol, Officer David Cole of Dickson Police Department, Captain Steve Spence of Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Giles County Primary Prevention Initiative Team, Sheriff J.T. “Pancho” Chumley of Tipton County Sheriff’s Office, Don Lindsey of American Automobile Association (AAA), Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, and Mike Dunavant of the 25th Judicial District.
