Pharmacy workers report prescription fraud incident

Workers at a Lawrenceburg pharmacy requested that police officers initiate an investigation Saturday after discovering an instance of prescription fraud.

Officers spoke with employees of Rite Aid, located at 2101 North Locust Avenue, at approximately 3:30 p.m. They reported that a man had presented a prescription to be filled. When they called to verify the prescription, however, they were informed that it had been altered.

When officers confronted the man about the fraud, he explained that the prescription had been written to a female acquaintance. He said that the woman had asked him to stop by and have the prescription filled, but that he had been unaware that it had been altered.

Investigation in the matter is currently on-going.
