Woman charged with mailing drugs to inmate
Lawrenceburg Now
Deputies arrested a Loretto woman recently after she allegedly sent drugs to an inmate through the mail.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department show that deputies were notified of the matter by a Corrections Officer at the county jail. He handed over an envelope that contained Suboxone strips, addressed to a current inmate.
Reports show that deputies listened to calls made by the inmate, identified as James Robert Burdick, 28, of 707 Old Johnson Road, Loretto. They found that he had contacted thirty-year-old Jessica Irene Vanderford of 638 Clax Branch Road on September 1st, and that they discussed "whether or not the Suboxones were sent in a letter."
As a result of the investigation, deputies obtained warrants against both Burdick and Vanderford. They went to Vanderford's home to serve her warrants. She was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center and booked under charges of criminal conspiracy and introduction of contraband into a penal facility. Warrants charging Burdick with the same crimes were served to him at the jail.
