Fire at Graphic Packaging is quickly contained

Just before 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 members of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department were dispatched to Graphic Packaging International, Lawrenceburg facility for a call of a fire in the press room. First arriving units found that the fire had been extinguished by Graphic Packaging employees.

During the fire, the in-house CO2 fire suppression system was activated. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus and air monitoring equipment did enter the fire room to check for fire extension.

Firefighters remained on-scene until the fire suppression agent had dissipated and the atmosphere was safe for employees to return to work. There was no damage to the structure as a result of the fire.

Lawrenceburg Fire Chief Jay Moore expressed, "The employees of Graphic Packaging acted consistently with their training, and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The in-house fire suppression system also activated as failsafe to ensure that the fire was quickly extinguished.
