Tuesday Crime Report
Lawrenceburg Now
Vandalism
On Saturday, officers were asked to respond to an Oak Street home where an apartment resident, age 48, reported that both of his vehicles had been vandalized. The victim, age 48, said he had been made aware of the matter by apartment security. He indicated that tires had been cut on both his 2007 Lincoln MLT and 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. In addition, both vehicles had been spray painted. Damages were estimated to total $1,500.
Theft
Police officers were called to Lions Club Apartments on Geri Street Friday afternoon where the victim, age sixty-five, reported that her purse, containing $587 in cash, had been stolen while she was moving in. She told officers that a married couple had been assisting her with the move and they were the only people who had been inside her apartment.
Theft
Police officers spoke with a Third Street resident on Thursday who reported that someone had burglarized her 2004 Nissan Frontier. She told officers that she had left her keys inside the truck the previous day. When she came to retrieve them, she found that several of her belongings were out of place. Her keys were missing along with an iPad 4 and a pair of earrings. Altogether, loss was estimated at $80.
Shoplifting
Officers spoke with loss prevention associates at Walmart last week who reported that a woman had fraudulently received a refund. While reviewing security footage, they discovered that a woman had entered the store empty-handed, then went to a closed register and picked up a Walmart bag and a gift card. The woman picked up a couple of items, then exited the store. She re-entered shortly afterward and made her way to the Customer Service desk. She was able to obtain a “no-receipt” refund in the amount of $21.82 before leaving the premises.
Vandalism
A Buffalo Road resident reported on Thursday that $850 worth of damage had been done to her 1999 Mazda truck. The victim told officers that someone had damaged the truck, along with a water meter base and pipe, but hitting them with a vehicle. Officers found no evidence to support the claim, indicating that there were no debris or marks on the roadway to indicate any type of collision. The truck had sustained a dent in one fender and two scratches that extended the entire length of the vehicle.
