Man hiding inside nursing home claims people are shooting at him

A man who was hiding in a Lawrenceburg nursing home Tuesday told employees that he came inside because someone had been shooting at him.Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department answered a suspicious person call to NHC Brink Street just after 6:00 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found the man, fifty-nine year old Timothy Melvin Adkins of 222 Debus Street, standing at the back door of the facility. Officers noted in their report that he appeared to be very confused. They said that he smelled of an alcoholic beverage.

They also noted that his muscles were jerking and his pupils were constricted. Adkins told officers that “someone had been shooting at him for three days,” however officers found no evidence to support his claims.

Adkins refused to submit to any type of medical treatment. Noting that he posed a hazard to himself, officers placed him under arrest and transported him to the Lawrence County Jail for incarceration.

Adkins was jailed in lieu of a $500 bond. He is scheduled to answer the charges through General Sessions Court on October 5, 2018.
