Woman is arrested for repeatedly ramming brother’s vehicle
Lawrenceburg Now
A Lawrenceburg woman was arrested during the weekend after she allegedly rammed her brother’s vehicle repeatedly, then fled from the scene.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department responded to a hit and run call at the Second Avenue/Eighth Street intersection just after 7:00 p.m. Sunday. The victim, a forty-one year old Turnpike resident, reported that the incident had occurred when he attempted to retrieve the vehicle he had loaned to his sister.
The victim reported to officers that his sister, twenty-nine year old Amanda Gail Lanier, had borrowed his car six days prior, and had agreed to return it that same day. He said that in the interim he had contacted her numerous times, but that she had continued to refuse to return the vehicle. His girlfriend had texted him earlier to tell him where they were, so he borrowed a car from another sister and attempted to make contact.
Reports show that the victim made visual contact with Lanier near the Second Avenue/Seventh Street intersection. He said as he approached the stop sign he realized that she was not going to stop and talk to him, so went around her and tried to force her to stop. He said she rammed him head-on, then backed up and rammed him several more times. At that point, he said Lanier and her two passengers got out of the car and fled on foot.
Officers were able to apprehend all three vehicle occupants nearby; one on First Avenue and two on Toben Terrace. Reports show that Lanier denied all accusations made by her brother.
Lanier was arrested on charges that include aggravated domestic assault, driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, failure to exhibit due care, failure to provide registration information, and failure to provide proof of insurance. She was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center and jailed under a bond of $11,000.
Officers learned that one of Lanier’s passengers, thirty-nine year old David Wayne Edwards of Gosnell, Arizona, had numerous active warrants issued through several different states. As a result, he was arrested on charges of being a fugitive from justice. He was incarcerated without bond to await further legal action through those states.
Both Lanier and Edwards have been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on October 5, 2017.
