Resident Falls Victim To Internet Puppy Purchase Scam

Lawrenceburg Now

A Leoma woman filed a complaint with Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies recently, indicating that she was out several hundred dollars after attempting to purchase a puppy via the internet.

The victim, age 37, reported that she had attempted to purchase a Great Dane puppy online from Becky’s Great Dane Puppies. She said that she sent a money order for $650 to a Walmart Store in Emporia, Kansas and was later able to confirm that the payment had been picked up.

Since that time, the victim said she has made numerous attempts to contact the business to schedule transport of the puppy. She told deputies that she has been unable to make contact with anyone either by phone or email.
