Man leaves grocery store without paying for beer

Lawrenceburg Police officers responded to a shoplifting call at Cash Savers on North Locust Avenue last week where the owner reported that a man had left the premises without paying for a twenty-four pack of beer, valued at $21.13.

The owner gave officers a description of the man as well as the vehicle in which he left. Using the license plate number he had obtained, they made their way to the Oak Street residence of the vehicle owner. She told officers that she had just returned from taking a friend to the store.

The woman told officers that she had given the man a ride to Cash Savers, then returned him to a home on Crowson Avenue. She stated that she had remained in the car the entire time that he was inside the store and had no idea that he had stolen items.

At the time reports were filed, officers were still attempting to track down the twenty-nine year old suspect.
