Local woman reports nearly $4,000 worth of cash advances fraudulently obtained on credit card

Lawrenceburg Now

A local woman requested that an investigation be launched late last week after learning that nearly $4,000 worth of cash advances had been fraudulently obtained on her credit card.

The victim, a fifty-nine year old Leoma resident, filed a complaint with Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies on Friday. She said that she had learned that there had been twenty separate attempts to fraudulently obtain money against her card. All of the attempts had occurred in Miami, Florida.

The victim reported that she had contacted the fraud unit with the Discover Company and was told that the total amount taken was $3,893. She said the money was refunded to her account by the company.

Investigation into the crime is currently on-going.
