Semi-Annual Summertown Bluegrass Reunion and Music Festival Labor Day Weekend
It is time for the 2016 Semi-Annual Summertown Bluegrass Reunion and Music Festival on Highway 240 in Summertown, Tenn, September 1-3, Labor Day weekend.
Bring your musical instruments, dancing shoes, lawn chairs and sit back and enjoy all the shows, crafts, foods, friends, booths, dancing and good bluegrass music, like no other.
It is clean, wholesome entertainment for the whole family. These fun-filled days and nights you will enjoy stage shows, instrument vendors, craft booths, jamming, clogging, a shade tree band contest, buck dancing contests, square dancing, two-stepping, waltzing, line dancing and most of all some of the best people you will ever meet. They come from everywhere.
The campground will be open, and sites fill on a first-come first-serve basis. Campers are lined up at dawn to get in on the first day. There are 125 camp sites. The cost is $15.00 per day. The Bluegrass Reunion Special: Covers eight days camping plus tickets for two at only $120.00. This special offer expires on Sunday following the festival. The campground is located on Highway 240 in Summertown, Tenn., 1/2 mile west of US Hwy 43. It is 60 miles south of Nashville, Tenn. and 50 miles north of Florence, Ala.
Terry and Tammy Pierce, organizers of the festival, travel countless miles and attend other Bluegrass Festivals to bring you the finest entertainers available at an affordable price. Terry Pierce is a noted square dance fiddler in his own right. He is up there with the big name entertainers at the Norris, Tenn. Bluegrass Festival every October.
Thursday, September 1st is FREE admission night for everyone. This is the time to take advantage of the good catfish supper at 5:00 p.m. and bring the family. Other fixings are available for the kids and the kids-at-heart throughout the three days of the festival: ice cream, popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers, soft drinks, beans and BBQ and you can enjoy the open stage and jamming as the music floats all over the park each day and night.
On Friday, September 2nd, the Stage Shows begin at 7:00 p.m. The admission is $8.00. As always, there is a free drawing with your ticket stub. On this night a beautiful handmade quilt will be given away to a lucky winner.
The stage shows begin on Saturday, September 3th at 12:00 noon. Admission for the Saturday event is only $10. Some great entertainers will delight you both Friday and Saturday. Also on Saturday, everyone’s favorite “Buck Dance” contest begins at 5:00 p.m. with prize money in first, second and third place in each of the following categories: Lil Doll - 10 years and under, Jr. Dance - 11 through age 35 and Senior dance - 36 and over. The winners are determined by audience ballot ticket stub.
The stage show breaks at 4:00 p.m. for supper break and to give you a chance to listen to all The Shade Tree Band pickers. These will be all over the park, with a number setup for you to choose your favorite. Take you a little stool, or chair, if you would like to go around and listen to all of the bands. You will also see people dancing on boards to the good music.
The Shade tree Band Contest will be at 6:00 p.m. Prize money is 1st place - $200.00, 2nd place - $150 and 3rd place - $100.00. Winners are determined by your audience ballot ticket stub. This is mighty fine picking and singing. There is also a drawing for $100.00 cash to be given to the lucky winner on Saturday night. This is one of the highlights of the shows. The Stage Show starts back up at 7:00 p.m. and goes until 11:00 p.m. If you have been once, “You’ll come back” again next year.
New this year is a Bluegrass show on Saturday, October 10 during the 20 mile yard sale and Meriweather Lewis October Festival. Camp ground will open on Sunday, October 4th thru October 11. The camp ground 7 day special will be camping and admission for only $100. Admission for the Bluegrass Show on Saturday will be just $8. Come and enjoy an extra evening of Bluegrass Music with a little yard saling during the day.
