Authorities Investigate Stolen Payroll Check

Law enforcement officials were called upon to investigate Monday when a Nashville woman discovered that her payroll check had been stolen and illegally cashed.

The forty-eight year old victim reported to officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department that the check had been stolen out of her daughter’s car. She told officers that she had her daughter pick up her payroll check from a home health agency in Spring Hill on August 4. Although her daughter was supposed to deposit the check into her bank account, the victim said she failed to do so.

When her daughter’s car broke down around a week later, she had it towed to a Lawrenceburg garage for repair. Once the repairs were completed and they picked it up, she said they were unable to locate the check.

The victim said that she contacted her employer to see whether they could issue another check, but instead learned that someone had cashed it on August 10.

Investigation into the crime is on-going at the current time.
