Stranded Motorist Returns To Find Vehicle Was Stolen
After parking his disabled vehicle at a community center Saturday, the motorist reports that he caught a ride, then returned to find that his car had been stolen.
The eighteen year old victim requested that deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department initiate an investigation in the matter Saturday evening. He reported that had been driving the 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier on Valley Road when it broke down. He pulled the vehicle into the parking lot at Crawfish Valley Community Club and called to have his mother pick him up.
The mother reported that she was the actual owner of the car. She told deputies that she had left a note on the dashboard explaining that the car had broken down. The note also included her name and a contact number. She said that when they returned later to check on the car, it was no longer there.
The mother explained to deputies that she had contacted the local towing services. She said that none had towed the car, therefore they had no idea what had happened to it.
The car has an estimated value of $1,500.
