Burglars Target Local Business
A Lawrenceburg business was targeted by burglars who left damages in their wake and made off with some cash last week.
A report filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department shows that burglars entered MSI Incorporated on W.O. Smith Street overnight Tuesday. The owner filed a complaint, indicating that the crime had been discovered by his employees.
One employee told officers that she had noticed that $140 in cash was missing from a money bag that had been kept at her desk. She said that she had noticed nothing out of place when she had first entered the building. She made the discovery after pulling the bag out at around 1:30.
Once the discovery was made, another employee checked the petty cash drawer and found that around $40 worth of cash was missing. She told officers that they had discovered that the back door was open when they had arrived for work, but that nothing else seemed suspicious at that time.
A third employee told officers that when he had arrived around 8:00 a.m., he had noticed that the dead bolt lock on the front door was not in the locked position. He said this was uncommon, but that he had been unaware of a problem until other employees discovered that cash was missing.
Officers checked the property and report that it appeared that a side door had been pried open, resulting in around $500 worth of damage. Loss and damages totaled approximately $680.
