Resident finds outbuilding burglarized, puppy dead at her Jackson Street home
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officers were called upon to initiate an investigation Thursday when a Jackson Street resident returned to her home to find her outbuilding had been burglarized, her vehicle vandalized, and her puppy was dead.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers made their way to the home around 7:30 a.m. The victim, age 42, reported that someone had broken into her outbuilding and stole car engine and motorcycle parts.
In addition, reports show that considerable damage was done to the victim’s 1999 Pontiac Bonneville that was parked in the driveway. Officers noted that there were pry marks around the window frame on the driver’s door. The doors had been locked and the attempt to gain entry, they report, was unsuccessful.
Although she was not positive that it was related to the crimes, the victim said that she had found her pit bull puppy, less than one year old, lying dead in the back yard. Reports show that the puppy had been tied near the burglarized outbuilding. Officers noted that there was no visible evidence that the puppy had been intentionally killed, however the owner said she would consult with her veterinarian.
The victim reported that they had heard the puppy barking at around 4:00 a.m.
Investigation in the matter is currently on-going through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with pertinent information should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
