Man reports being robbed in business parking lot
Lawrenceburg Now
An Alabama resident filed a complaint with local law enforcement officers last week, indicating that he had been robbed while in the parking lot of a Lawrenceburg business.
The victim, a twenty-two year old resident of Eufaula, Alabama, spoke with Lawrenceburg Police officers shortly before 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. He said that while traveling, he had run out of money and was in the parking lot of Walmart on North Locust Avenue, waiting to hear from his mother who was going to send him money via Western Union.
The victim told officers that he was smoking a cigarette when he was approached by a man who had just pulled up in a truck. He said that the man cornered him in the space of his open car door and asked him for money. When he told the man that he had no money, he said the man snatched his cell phone from his hand, ran back to his truck, and fled.
The victim was able to obtain a description of the truck along with a license plate number. Officers ran a check on the plate and learned that it had been issued to a Waynesboro man who owned a truck matching that description.
The victim estimated his loss to be in excess of $1,000. The case currently remains under investigation.
