Huffing incident results in arrest of Old Florence Road resident
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officers arrested a Lawrenceburg man last week after receiving a call regarding a person who was out of control after huffing aerosols.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at a home on Old Florence Road. When officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department arrived on the scene, they made contact with the man’s seventy-two year old mother who appeared to be extremely distressed.
She told them that her son had been huffing air duster in his bedroom. She said that he had been “doing it all day and had been yelling and cursing.” She told them that she was frightened by his actions and feared that he would be combative with police officers, as well.
When officers entered the man’s bedroom, they report that he was “talking out of his head and seemed very distraught.” He told the officers that “they had no business in his room and needed to leave.” Officers asked whether he would allow emergency medical technicians to check his wellbeing. At that time, they report that he “responded by grabbing a can of air duster and inhaling a large amount.”
The man reportedly fought with officers when they attempted to take the can from him. They were escorting him out of the house when they report that he “decided he was not going to jail.” They report that he again became combative and was subsequently taken to the ground and placed in shackles. Reports show that he refused all medical attention.
The suspect, identified as Zackery Warner Hill, age 47, was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges of domestic assault and inhaling aerosol gasses for unlawful purposes. He was held without bond with an initial appearance in General Sessions Court scheduled for September 12, 2016.
