Monday Crime Report
Vandalism
On Sunday police officers were called to a home on High Avenue where a fifty-one year old resident reported discovering that someone had broken a window out of a mobile home she uses for storage. She estimated her loss to be $100.
Theft
Police officers responded to a Gaither Avenue home Friday where a woman reported that her lawn furniture had been stolen. She told officers that items missing from her yard included: a metal swing, wrought iron bench, six plastic chairs, two metal-framed high back chairs, and a wrought iron table with a mosaic glass top. Altogether, she estimated loss to total $450.
Theft
A resident of Maple Avenue reported to police officers Sunday that her Inspiron laptop computer had gone missing from inside of her residence. She said that a male acquaintance had been inside the home earlier in the day and that he had used the laptop. She told officers that she had left the home for a short time, returning to discover the crime. The computer had an estimated value of $599.
Shoplifting
Officers were called to Dollar General at 1906 West Gaines Street Thursday after a customer reported to store officials that a man in the rear of the store was “stuffing items in his pants” on the laundry aisle. Officers reviewed video surveillance but found that no cameras captured the crime. The employees said they would further review the video and conduct an inventory to determine what had been stolen.
Vehicle burglary
An employee of the Dollar General store located at 902 North Military Avenue reported to police officers last week that while he had been working inside the store, someone had stolen his laptop computer out of his 1991 Isuzu Rodeo parked in the parking lot. Loss was estimated to be $415.
Theft
A Bluff Drive resident filed a complaint with police officers, indicating that her black AT&T Maven cell phone had been stolen out of her mother’s car while she was at her mother’s home on Oak Street. She said that she had noticed that a male acquaintance was attempting to sell a phone identical to hers, down to a scuff mark on the side. Investigation in the matter is on-going.
