Lawrence County Students Complete Summer Internships
Lawrence County School recently celebrated the completion of the second year for the student summer internship program entitled, GETi. Getting Experience Through Internships.
The primary goal of the GETi program is to allow students the opportunity to gain real world experience in their field of interest in order to confirm their career plans before entering post-secondary education opportunities.
By participating in the GETi program students are also able to sharpen 21st Century workplace skills, including time management, collaboration and teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving.
The program also provides employers the opportunity to show students the job possibilities available in Lawrence County. An aspiration of the GETi program is to show students the significance of choosing to live and work here after completing their education.
With continued support, programs such as the GETi can assist in bridging the skilled workforce gap, which in turn can assist in the overall growth and development of Lawrence County.
The students completing the program this summer were Carson Brite (Law Office of Paul Plant), Alexis Fann (Lawrence County Accounts & Budgets Office), Ty Hagen (DURA), Riley Hand (Diverse Fabrication), Kaylee Johnson (Law Office of Allan Betz), Emma Sisk (NHC Scott) Jacob Snook (Lawrenceburg Utility Systems), and Annsley Watson (First Presbyterian Preschool).
The GETi program was coordinated by CTE Program Manager, Hope McDow. A vast thank you goes to Diverse Fabrication, Southern Craft Manufacturing, DURA Automotive Systems, Graphic Packaging, NHC Scott Healthcare, Law Office of Paul Plant, Law Office of Allan Betz, First Presbyterian Preschool, Lawrence County Accounts and Budgets, and Lawrenceburg Utility Systems for your participation in the GETi program. Without the support of local businesses the GETi program would not be possible.
For more information about the GETi program please contact Hope McDow at hopemcdow@lcss.us or 931-762-9412 ext. 4104.
