Lawrenceburg boy injured when run off the roadway by reckless driver

Law enforcement officials report that a Lawrenceburg boy riding a bicycle sustained injuries during the weekend when he was run off of the roadway by a reckless driver, causing him to crash into a tree.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, officers were dispatched to investigate the incident in the 1100 block of Clearview Avenue at around 11:14 p.m. Saturday.

The victim, age 13, reported that he had been riding his bicycle, searching for his friend when he heard a vehicle approaching him from the rear. He told officers that the driver did not strike him, but “came so close” that he was forced to turn his bike sharply to avoid being run over. He said this caused him to crash into a tree.

Officers noted that the boy had sustained scrapes and bruises on his left arm, right arm, right side, and his back. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the location and rendered medical attention at the scene.

Officers were provided with the name of a possible suspect in the matter. Investigation in the case is on-going at the current time.
