Friday Crime Report
Recovered property
A resident of First Avenue in Lawrenceburg reported to police officers Monday that he had found an abandoned red alligator skin purse lying in a chair on his front porch. The purse contained a Bible, biblical literature, and two pairs of lady’s reading glasses. Officers were unable to find any identification inside that would allow them to contact the owner.
Burglary
Officers were called to a home on West Gaines Street Monday to investigate the burglary of a 1999 Ford Mustang. The owner said he had parked the car in his driveway at around 7:30 that morning. When he later went to his car to go to work, he noticed the back seats were folded down. Taken from the car was a magazine for a 1911 handgun, magazine holster, twenty-five count box of ACP Remington ammunition, a bag of candy, and two ACDC discs with a combined value of around $112. He said that the doors had been left unlocked.
Theft
On Tuesday police officers were summoned to a home on Lawrence Street where the resident reported that someone had broken into his residence. The only item that appeared to be missing was a checkbook to an account that is now inactive.
