Murfreesboro Dad Arrested For Shoplifting With Kids
A Murfreesboro resident was arrested Tuesday evening while attempting to shoplift a large number of items with his three children in-tow.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that Brian Lance Dial, age 33, of 1006 Division Street, Murfreesboro, was arrested on the felony charge of theft over $1,000.
Store security personnel at Walmart requested that officers be dispatched around 7:30 p.m. after detaining Dial. They told officers that they had observed him attempting to leave the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise for which he had not paid. They said that at the time the crime was committed Dial’s children, ages 11, 9, and 6, were with him.
The cart contained primarily school supplies and clothing along with an antenna, tools, spray paint, flashlights, DVD, diapers, wipes, and personal care items. The items had a combined value of $1,126.74.
A referral was made to the Department of Children’s Services. Dial will be required to answer the charge in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on September 3, 2015.
