Officers seize marijuana plants from Laurel Hill Road home
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officers who were investigating a report of suspected drug activity Monday indicate that they could see two marijuana plants when they pulled into the suspect’s driveway.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, officers made the discovery at a home located at 42 Laurel Hill Road. The officers report that they were still sitting in the driveway when they noticed one marijuana plant growing toward the rear of the home while a second was growing in a side yard next to a pile of dirt.
Officers knocked but report they received no answer at the home. As they were leaving to secure a search warrant for the property, they report that the thirty-one year old resident, Joshua Gene Griggs, and his wife pulled into the driveway.
Officers report that when they told Griggs that they “needed to talk to him about his marijuana plants,” he responded, “I thought that was why you were here.” He reportedly told the officers that he “was glad” they were there and that he had intended to cut down the plants.
Officers received permission to conduct a search of the property and report finding a total of four plants. The smallest was approximately six inches tall while the largest measured over eight feet.
Officers indicate that they will be presenting evidence against Griggs to the Lawrence County Grand Jury, seeking indictments on charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of resale.
