Victims Report A Spree Of Vehicle Burglaries
Several additional complaints were filed in recent days into a vehicle burglary spree that has plagued citizens of Lawrenceburg.
On Thursday, officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department investigated the burglary of a Dodge Durango that had been parked in the owner’s driveway on Ninth Street. The victim reported that someone had rummaged through the center console, strewing the contents about inside the vehicle. She told officers that nothing appeared to be missing.
Officers were called to a Weakley Creek Road home Thursday where the resident reported that a radar detector, valued at $100, had been stolen out of her vehicle.
On Friday, officers responded to a Third Avenue home where the resident reported that a piece of concrete had been thrown through the passenger side window of her 2001 Dodge Ram truck. A 20 gauge shotgun and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun were stolen, resulting in a loss of around $1,930.
Investigated by police officers Saturday was the burglary of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe on Seventh Street. The owner reported that sometime after she went to bed the previous night, someone entered her vehicle and tossed the contents. She said that a Bluetooth speaker, Vape Heavy Hitter, two chargers, and Crickett ZTE Grand Max were missing. She estimated the value of the items at $215. She told officers that she had accidentally left the vehicle unlocked.
A woman whose vehicle had been burglarized while she was shopping at Walmart told officers that she had located the handgun that had been stolen from her. The .380 Sig Sauer had gone missing from her 2007 Toyota Corolla on July 28. She said that on Thursday she had gone to Better Deal Pawn, also on North Locust Avenue, and discovered that it had been pawned there for $100.
Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division are continuing efforts to identify the perpetrators of the crimes. Anyone with pertinent information should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
