Drugs seized from victims of attempted armed robbery
Lawrenceburg Now
Drugs were seized from a Lawrenceburg home last week when the residents called for help after being targeted in an attempted armed robbery.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department, officers had answered a Sunday afternoon call to a Fisher Alley home. They were able to apprehend one of the robbery suspects when they arrived, however the second successfully fled the scene.
The residents reported that the two men had pulled guns on them and attempted to rob them. After speaking with the officers for a time, however, one of the residents admitted that the men had come to the home to purchase marijuana.
While at the home, reports show that officers detected a heavy odor of marijuana. Although both residents admitted that there were illegal narcotics inside, they both refused to consent to a search.
Officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the property and began to search the men’s bedrooms. Inside the bedroom of resident Jordan John Ernest Julian, age 24, they report finding two glass jars containing marijuana. One contained 7 grams, the other 29.2 grams.
A bag containing 8.1 grams of marijuana was found inside a backpack, and a plastic bag containing 13.5 grams of psychedelic mushrooms was found beneath a couch cushion.
Three marijuana roaches were seized from an ash tray along with three marijuana pipes, a grinder, numerous plastic zippered bags, a box of sandwich bags, digital scales, and two blunt cutters. Also, $571 believed to be the proceeds of illicit drug sales was seized from Julian’s wallet along with $20 from his pocket.
While searching the bedroom of resident Kevin Lee Anderson, age 19, officers report seizing a bag containing 3.5 grams of marijuana from his headboard, a grinder and digital scales from beneath his mattress, two bongs, a wooden pipe and three small marijuana pipes from a stand, and a large number of vacuum seal bags.
Officers searched the remainder of the residence seizing another marijuana pipe and two vacuum sealers.
At that point officers conducted a search of Anderson’s vehicle. They seized a gallon-sized plastic bag containing two individually wrapped marijuana packages weighing approximately one gram apiece.
They searched his person and report seizing $897 he had in one pocket. They noted that, at that time, Anderson was unemployed and had no legitimate way to explain how he obtained the cash. He reportedly admitted to one detective that he sells marijuana.
Altogether, officers seized some $1,488 cash along with various narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Anderson’s cell phone was also seized along with his 2006 BMW. Reports show that these were seized because they were “believed to be used in facilitation, transportation, or are profits from illegal narcotic sales.”
Anderson was issued citations, charging him with the crimes of possession of marijuana for the purpose of resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is required to answer the charges in General Sessions Court on October 5, 2017.
Julian was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. He was booked under charges that include possession of Schedule I narcotics for the purpose of resale, possession of Schedule VI narcotics for the purpose of resale, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was incarcerated under a bond of $41,000 with an initial court date set for September 7, 2017.
