Lawrence County School Bus Procedure Changes

We have put a few new procedures in place to increase the safety of the students of Lawrence County. We will need the cooperation of everyone involved with our students in order for these transitions to take place smoothly. We thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Every student that rides a bus will be given an Annual Student Bus Information Sheet on the first day of school or the first day that the student rides the bus. The Student Bus Information Sheet must be completed by a parent or guardian and returned to the bus driver the following day. Failure to return the sheet will result in students not being allowed to ride the bus because this information is needed for student safety.
No student will be allowed to board a bus that is not the student’s regular bus without a bus note from the office signed by a school administrator. The bus note will not be signed without proper documentation of the change in destination. If the school has a question, a call will be made to verify the change. Safety of students is going to be first priority, so a bus note will not be issued if there is a suspicion of forgery and no parent/guardian can be reached by phone.
No bus notes will be taken after 2:30 P.M. A lot of the confusion with notes failing to get delivered in the past had a great deal to do with the time of day that the school was contacted. It is also an issue for buses to already be in route and there be a request for a change in plans. For reasons of this nature, no longer will any bus changes be allowed after 2:30 P.M.

All of the changes that have been implemented are to ensure that we are taking every step possible to keep the students in the Lawrence County School System safe. Thank you for your cooperation with these new procedures!! We look forward to a fantastic school year!
