Couple awakes to find intruder inside home
Lawrenceburg Now
A Five Points couple awakened last week to find an intruder standing inside of their kitchen.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department report answering a call for a burglary-in-progress at a home on Five Points Road.
When they spoke with the thirty-five year old female resident she explained that she had awakened and walked into her kitchen to find a man she knew standing inside. She asked why he was inside her home and he told her he "had saved them." He told her that her neighbor had attempted to break into their home and he had prevented it.
The victim asked how the man had gained entry to her home. He first told her he had entered through the rear door, then a side door. Both times she told him she knew he was lying because the doors were blocked and it was not possible to enter there. The man eventually admitted that he had entered through a back window.
The victim said she yelled for assistance from the male resident and he quickly came into the kitchen. He ordered the man out of their home. She said the intruder then "began frantically searching and asking 'where is my gun?'" The victims said that they saw the intruder pick up a large flat screen TV, then walk away.
A neighbor reported that the same man had come to their home earlier. He said that he had asked his wife to use their phone, but that she had locked him out, instead. He said the man was angry, claiming that the first female victim had taken his money. He said he then walked away, disappearing into a cornfield.
Deputies report finding the suspects sunglasses and two shirts lying on a table outside of one of the residences. They are currently continuing their investigation into the crime.
