Attempts made to burn barns on Dobbins Road property
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officials are working to identify the persons behind the attempted arson of some barns on a Dobbins Road property.
The victim reported to Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies Saturday that he made the discovery while moving some cattle. He said he noticed that a liquid had been splashed on the rear doors of a barn he had been using as a shop building. He found that bottles and jugs filled with a very flammable substance had been placed at the base of the doors and walls. Deputies noted that some had canon fuses attached to them.
Deputies pointed out, "It appeared the intention was to ignite the substance with the fuse in hopes to burn the barn."
The victim took deputies to a second barn where more jugs of the liquid were found. They, too, had fuses attached.
The victim said that he had tested a little bit of the liquid earlier and discovered that it was, in fact, flammable.
The items were taken into evidence at that point. The case currently remains under investigation through the department's Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with information about the crime should contact the department at 931-762-3626.
