Summer Reading Program Success

The Lawrence County Public Library just wrapped up its Summer Reading Program, and this year’s success was of Super Hero proportions! A total of 2,672 books were read by K-6th graders with almost 800 prizes and rewards earned.

The library also had record breaking attendance at the weekly storytime programs. This year’s programs were Animal Heroes, Hometown Heroes, Super Hero Training Academy, Super Hero Pajama Party and Stuffed Animal Sleepover, and the Grand Finale Celebration.

The students were delighted by visits from the Lawrenceburg Fire Department, Working Dogs for Vets, and Nurse Sue and Stitches the Dog from Fast Pace Medical.

They learned about many different kinds of heroes from real to imaginary, “toured” a fire truck, tested their super hero strength and skills, left their stuffed animals and action heroes overnight in the library, made several crafts (one they got to eat!), and were entertained by Mr. Rich the Science Guy from Super Science Tennessee.

A fun time was had by all! A HUGE “thank you” to our teen and adult volunteers. We would also like to thank our sponsors: Lawrenceburg Parks and Recreation, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, Sonic, Long John Silver’s, Captain D’s, Friends of the Lawrence County Public Library, Dollar General, Aaron’s, Parkes Lumber Company, and PlayWell.
