Lost wallet is stolen after being turned in at Lawrenceburg business
Lawrenceburg Now
A lost wallet was stolen during the weekend after it was turned in at the customer service department of a Lawrenceburg business.
According to Lawrenceburg Police Department reports, officers spoke with a fifty-five year old resident of Illinois Saturday afternoon. She reported that the incident began when she inadvertently left her wallet in her shopping cart while loading her purchases into her vehicle at Kroger on North Locust Avenue.
The victim said that she had spoken with Kroger officials about the matter. They explained that the wallet had been turned in at the customer service desk by “an older man with white hair.” They said that shortly afterwards, another man came to the desk, claiming that his wife’s wallet was missing. Store officials said the man “described it perfectly” and claimed that the wallet was, in fact, his wife’s, therefore it was given to him.
The victim reported a loss of approximately $449.
Store officials told police officers that they would be able to provide video surveillance of the suspect. Investigation into the matter is on-going at the present time.
