LCHS Shooting Team Awards Banquet

This year’s team awards were two 2nd place wins at ATA/AIMS Shoots in Big Springs, a Team Score of 480 (out of 500) at the Regional Shoot which put the team at 4th place out of 35 teams, a Team Score of 481 at the Tennessee State Shoot, placing at 7th out of 135 teams.

Individual recognition went to both Cody Moss and Sam Brown for placing as Runner Up in the Junior Division at ATA/AIMS Shoots this year and both of these athletes accomplished shooting a 99 this year.

29 individual Straight Patches for shooting either 25, 50, or 75 straight clay targets without a miss were awarded this year.

Cody Moss seven 25 straight, and one 75 straight, Sam Brown four 25s and four 50s, JC Mills two 25s and one 50, Ty Johnson two 25s and one 50, Ben Watson two 25s, Kyle Brown two 25s, Tate Staggs one 25, Ali Beck one 25 and Taylen Lance one 25 straight.

Sam Brown and JC Mills both made the Scholastic Clay Target Program’s All-State Team this year.

The 2017 Top Gun Award went to Sam Brown and Varsity MVP to JC Mills, and Junior Varsity MVP to Ben Watson.

After the regular season LCHS had one athlete attend the SCTP Nationals in Ohio. Cody Moss shot 194/200, placing him at 95 out of 703 shooters.

This year’s LCHS Shooting Team coaches were Head Coach Greg Holt, Assistants Shawn Walters, Tim Staggs, and David Mills with special thanks for many volunteer hours from Wade Watson and Jason Beck.
