Domestic altercation yields arrest of man wanted in Arkansas

Investigation into a domestic altercation involving the violation of an order of protection last week led to the arrest of a local man who was wanted in the State of Arkansas.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that officers were dispatched to Buffalo Road after receiving a report of a man chasing a woman along the roadway. When they arrived at the location indicated, they report that a man matching the description given by the caller was walking along the roadway.

Officers spoke with the man, identified as twenty-eight year old Steven Daryl Box of Lawrenceburg. According to reports, Box told officers that while he had seen his ex-girlfriend, he had not spoken to her. He told officers that she had been running along the roadway and was “acting crazy”, but that he had not approached her.

Officers took statements from witnesses who said the victim had been running along Buffalo Road yelling, “He is going to get me.”

While investigating the incident, officers discovered that the victim had an active order of protection against Box. They also found that there was an active warrant for his arrest that had been issued out of Green County, Arkansas.

Box was placed under arrest. During a search subsequent to arrest, Box was found to have on his person a plastic bag containing pills.

Box was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was held under a charge of being a fugitive from justice. Reports show that evidence against him will be presented to an upcoming session of the Lawrence County Grand Jury, seeking indictments on narcotics charges as well as violation of an order of protection.
