Arrests Made In Weekend Domestic Altercations
Arrests were made in two separate incidents of domestic assault investigated by Lawrenceburg Police officers during the weekend.
On Saturday officers responded to a Brannon Street home where forty-five year old resident William Floyd Smith was arrested. His wife reported that he had been drinking and arguing with her family members. She told officers that Smith made her mother leave, then threatened to set afire the portion of the home where her mother’s belongings were kept.
The wife reported that Smith threw a surround sound system outside, shattering it, then threw other items onto the lawn.
Smith was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under charges of domestic assault and domestic vandalism. Bond was set at $10,000.
Officers responded to an apartment on Bluff Drive around 1:00 a.m. Sunday. The female resident reported that she had been struck in the face by her child’s father while she was holding his eight month old son.
The victim said that they had been arguing but that the verbal altercation had quickly escalated to a physical level. She told officers that he struck her in the face and threw her phone. Officers noted no physical marks on either the woman or her phone.
When they spoke with the suspect, twenty-one year old Logan Anthony Woods, he told officers that he had only struck the victim on the hand “because she was yelling at him.” He admitted that he had thrown her phone, but said that “he just wanted her to leave their apartment.”
Woods was transported to the detention center where he was booked under a single count of domestic assault. Bond was set at $1,000.
Both men were scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 10, 2015.
