Resident reports son’s account shows fraudulent charges from jail
Lawrenceburg Now
A local resident filed a complaint with law enforcement officers last week, reporting that someone had fraudulently used his son’s bank account to make purchases at the Maury County Jail.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department spoke with the complainant. He said that there had been several fraudulent charges on the account. Four of the charges, he said, had been made at the Maury County Jail Commissary. Charges at the jail totaled $451.00. Total loss to the son’s account was $738.96.
Jail authorities were able to provide deputies with a phone number and email address associated with the commissary account. A suspect has been identified and warrants are expected to be forthcoming.
