Local Co-op partners with Loretto High School Agriculture

The Loretto High School Agriculture Department has been very fortunate to partner with the local CO-OP to build and maintain the program. LHS Agriculture teacher, Alex Davis states, "One of the greatest partnerships that high school agriculture education programs can have are with the local county CO-OP."

The Agriscience Department/FFA Chapter at Loretto High School greatly appreciates our Lawrence Farmers CO-OP. Agriculture Education curriculum often requires specialized equipment that would not be in a general education classroom, which is not only sometimes difficult to find, but it often is very expensive.

Lawrence Farmers CO-OP on numerous occasions over the past year has greatly supported the Loretto High School Agriscience/ FFA Chapter. They have alleviated the cost of some pieces of agricultural equipment and supplies that is greatly needed when providing instruction to agriculture education students.

The Lawrence Farmers CO-OP open the doors to provide the Loretto High School agriculture camp the opportunity to tour their fertilizer mixing facility. They spoke about in detail the precision agriculture spreader trucks that we often see on our Lawrence County roads.

One of the things that the Loretto High School Agriculture Camp students enjoyed a great deal was the outstanding meal provided by the Lawrence Farmers CO-OP. Loretto High School Agriscience Teacher and FFA Advisor says “Having a partner such as Lawrence Farmers CO-OP is an invaluable resource for an FFA Chapter, not only do they help with specialized equipment, specialized supplies, and providing touring opportunities, but they provide top notch service each and every time we work with them.

The Loretto High School FFA Chapter and Agriscience Department appreciates this relationship, and hopes to further cultivate this connection which provides these types of exceptional opportunities for the Agriscience Students at Loretto High School.”
