Amish boy treated in Nashville following Sunday shooting incident involving juveniles

Authorities indicate that an Amish boy who sustained a gunshot wound Sunday while playing with another child is being treated at a Nashville hospital.

A press release issued through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department indicates that deputies were dispatched to 251 Hudson Road to investigate the shooting. Upon their arrival, deputies reported finding that the boy had sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest. The child was subsequently transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

An investigation into the shooting was quickly undertaken. Deputies learned that the youngster had been playing with another Amish boy who had accidentally discharged a .22 rifle, striking him in the torso. They concluded that no foul play was involved and ruled the matter an accidental shooting.
