Tuesday Crime Report
Vandalism
Residents of a Kramer Avenue home filed a complaint with police officers last week, indicating that someone had damaged their outbuilding with a vehicle during the night. Officers noted skid marks that ran from the gravel alley to the outbuilding. They noted that the building had sustained serious structural damage. Damages were assessed at $2,500.
Vehicle burglary
Officers investigated the burglary of a 2013 Chevrolet Impala on Oak Street on Saturday. The victim reported that when he got into his car, he noticed that someone had stolen his wallet, two cell phones, and a Bluetooth device with a combined value of approximately $140.
Vehicle burglary
Officers responded to a West Taylor Street home Saturday where the victim reported that sometime between 2:30 and 4:25 that day, someone had entered her unlocked 2000 Ford Explorer and dumped the contents of her purse onto the passenger seat. Missing were two $20 bills and a debit card.
Theft
A resident of Spout Springs Road reported to police officers that her cell phone, valued at $100, had been taken from her home. She said that she had learned that the phone was in the possession of an acquaintance. She told officers that she did not wish to pursue prosecution.
Shoplifting
Officials with Walmart reported last week that while reviewing video surveillance, security personnel had discovered a shoplifting incident that had occurred the previous day. The video showed the offender leaving the store with $99.94 worth of merchandise without paying for it. The offender was said to have been driving a red 2001 Chevrolet Impala.
Theft
A woman who had been staying at Traveler’s Motel on North Locust Avenue last week reported to police officers that her cell phone had gone missing. She said she had laid it on her bed, but that shortly afterward she realized it was missing. Loss was estimated at $50.
Theft
Officers responded to a Jackson Avenue home last week where a local resident reported that her wallet and all of the contents had been stolen. She told deputies that she had called a friend at the location she had been at shortly before, and learned that her debit card was found lying on the floor next to the entry door. The wallet, $64 in cash, and the remaining contents were said to have resulted in loss of $114.
Theft
Officials with Wayne County Rock reported to deputies last week that two 12-volt batteries had been stolen from an Ingersoll-Rand roller pack. The cables to the batteries had been cut and the batteries removed. Damage to the cables was estimated at $300 while loss from the stolen batteries was said to total $200.
Theft
Owners reported that a Yamaha FZ07 motorcycle was stolen from the carport of a Highway 43 North home resulting in a $15,000 loss. The owner said that it was there when he left for work that morning, but not when his wife checked at around 12:00 p.m.
Theft
Deputies spoke with a forty-three year old Loretto woman who reported that she had received a traffic citation from the Memphis Police Department that indicated that a license plate registered to her was displayed on a Chevrolet Malibu that had been parked in a no parking zone. The victim said that she had removed the plate from a vehicle she had sold more than two years prior. She said that she had tossed the plate into the floor of her truck at that time, thinking that she might use it to construct a birdhouse or something similar. She said she had forgotten about it until receiving the citation. She said that she had not given or sold the plate to anyone.
